Parental Leave
Unified Defense/Prince Service & Mfg. has established the
following guidelines for full-time employees to receive paid leave following
the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. To be eligible for
paid leave, the employee must be full-time and meet the same requirements for
leave that exist under the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA); namely, the
employee must have been employed with Unified Defense/Prince Service & Mfg.
for at least one (1) year and worked at least 1,250 hours for Unified Defense/Prince
Service & Mfg. in the preceding twelve (12) months.
All employees must provide Human Resources with notice of the need
to take leave. Unified Defense/Prince Service & Mfg. will provide up to two
(2) weeks' paid leave for the care of a new child. This paid leave shall run
concurrently with any FMLA leave to which the employee is entitled, and
employees may choose to use their PTO time once the paid leave is exhausted.
Paid leave must be taken in one continuous period immediately after the birth,
adoption, or foster placement of a child. Group insurance benefit premiums will
continue to be payroll deducted from the paid leave and any PTO time the
employee elects to use. If the employee transitions to an unpaid status, the
employee must continue to pay their share of the elected benefit premiums,
which will be collected upon returning to work. An employee's failure to pay
their share of the benefit premiums may result in termination of benefits.
